Murray started his career in finance at the Commercial Bank of Australia in 1979, which eventually was combined with the Bank of New South Wales to form Westpac. After leaving Westpac in 1984 to join Avco Finance (now GE Finance) Murray was then promoted to Branch Manager when Avco Finance opened their Cannington office in 1985. Eighteen months later he then moved to a Senior Manager position, based from their Perth Office and was integrated into several management areas. In 1996 he was again promoted, this time to the position of State Insurance Development Manager responsible for WA, SA and areas of Victoria. Then in 1998 after nineteen years in the Banking and Finance industry Murray joined Ray Worrall at Sound Finance, as his Business Partner.

In 2008, after being awarded his Diploma of Finance through AAMC group, Murray became an Authorised Representative and Financial Planner for Australian Finance Group Financial Planning (AFSL No 247105). Murray is also involved with a number of business, community and sporting groups - including the Local Chambers of Commerce and Industry, where he was elected to the role of WA State President in 2005.

Ray facilitated his first loan at 19 years of age and has been doing it ever since. After a stint of writing loans via a car dealership and 7 years with Avco Finance he felt there was a market for the general public to access personal finance via a broking service “at this time brokers where mainly used by the commercial industry and the general public where left to source their avenue of financing directly”. Well that was in 1994 and since then Sound Finance has facilitated loans for over 15000 customers.
